Lewis and Clark Imagery

 

Starting in 1995, Louis Archambault embarked on creating one painting a year, with the plan to create a total of ten by the bicentennial to be celebrated in 2005. His first six were issued to a limited edition of 250 and approximately a 18" x 12" image size, on professional grade photographic paper and retail for $125. each. His most recent images: "Gathering Balsamroot", "Four Days of Rest" and "Prairie Vista" are also issued to a limited edition of 250 and approximately a 18" x 12" image size, but are Giclee' prints and retail for $175. each. Gathering Balsamroot

Against The Odds

The Experiment

Vigilant of the Intruders
On the evening of July 19th, the corps passes through the Gates of the Mountains, near present day Helena Montana. July 1805.

 

Mountain Gates Serenade
Cruzatte pays hommage to the big sky and lulls the party to sleep with his music. July 1805. Gates of the Mountains.

 

Planning The Expedition Serenade
Thomas Jefferson is preparing Lewis for the expedition at his home Monticello. August-November 1802.

A Wonderfully Savage Land
Another encounter with the "highly respected white bears". Helena's north valley, mid-July, 1805.

With the painting and April, 2005 edition release of #10 "A Wonderfully Savage Land" Louis is proud to announce the completion of this series.
